and can accommodate a few more.

Membership is open to all people over 18 yrs of age
with an abiding interest in photography.
Ability is not a prerequisite. All members can expect
to improve their skills and enjoyment of photography.

Two levels of membership are available.

Full Membership
An initial one time fee required to join of $200 has
been reduced to $75!

Monthly fees of $23 are charged to defray the
continuing costs of our facilities.  Full members have
a key to the facilities for unlimited access.

Associate Membership
An initial one time fee of $25 is charged. Membership dues
are then paid in advance at $55 for 6 months or $100 for
a full year.  Associate members have the same benefits
and responsibilities as full members except for unlimited
access to the guild facilities.

Family memberships
are also available. Members of a household may join
at half the cost of the first joining member.

Some supplies are available on a low cost basis to members.

After reviewing membership information, if you wish to fill out an application, we have included a cut and paste application which you can return by email or regular mail after adding your answers.

Frequently asked questions about membership

What do my costs of full membership pay for?

Initiation fee of $75 goes toward equipment purchases and maintenance.  We vote on additions we would like to acquire and purchase when money is available.  Monthly fees of $23 go toward rental and upkeep of our facilities. You will not be billed for these fees unless you fall behind.  We keep a sheet of your paid up status posted at the guild and leave it up to you to write a check to the Photographers Guild and send it to the treasurer.

When can I use the facilities?

Full members have a key and can enter the building and use the facilities nearly any time.  The only exceptions are when members are using the same equipment (seldom) or when a class is going on requiring use of the specific equipment needed.

Committee duties?

Committees are a way of involving and interacting with other members, the Goshen and Elkhart County community, and beyond.  Several committees need a variety of  talents that provide enjoyment to the participants.

What if my schedule doesn't allow me to attend many meetings?

Of course, we would like all members to attend the monthly meetings on the third Wednesday evening of the month, but if you miss a meeting, minutes will be mailed to you.  Committee meetings can usually be arranged to fit your schedule.

Can I leave my stuff at the guild?

Some storage can be accommodated at the guild for papers, chemicals, small tools, etc.  These should be placed in a storage container marked with your name and kept out of the way under a shelf for example.  Members have mail boxes at the guild where small items (name tags, etc.) may be kept while allowing room for inserted mail.  Although the facility is relatively secure, high value personal items should probably not be kept there.

How do I learn how to use the equipment?

On your own you can read the manuals  in our library for all the equipment.  You can request assistance from another member at a meeting.  We also offer courses on specific groups of equipment needed for darkroom operations, matting and framing, etc.

What is the Photo of the Month contest?

At each monthly meeting, members may bring a photo taken within the last year.  Members vote and the winner receives $10 and has the photo displayed at the guild until the next meeting and also displayed on our website.
